Elves
Elves
Elves are the eldest people of Teradill. In Aeloria, they are most closely associated with the northern Wyrdwood, known in elven speech as Eryndor, and with the hidden city of Eryndriel. Most people never visit these places. Many are not entirely sure they could find them if they tried.
Elves
Elves are the eldest people of Teradill. In Aeloria, they are most closely associated with the northern Wyrdwood, known in elven speech as Eryndor, and with the hidden city of Eryndriel. Most people never visit these places. Many are not entirely sure they could find them if they tried.
To ordinary Aelorians, elves are figures of contradiction. They are admired for grace, wisdom, beauty, patience, and living memory. They are also viewed with suspicion because they keep secrets, avoid most politics, and rarely explain what they know.
Elven culture is deeply tied to living systems, old forests, long memory, and the belief that all life participates in a greater rhythm. Their craft is often grown rather than built. Their magic tends toward harmony, concealment, healing, warding, song, woodshape, starlight, and the careful shaping of natural forces.
Modern elves are not a fallen empire giving orders to the world. They are a withdrawn people who remember too much, trust too slowly, and often act as wardens rather than rulers.
Elves at the Grand Scholarium
An elven student at the Grand Scholarium is rare enough to be noticed. Some are official observers, diplomatic guests, cultural envoys, or students sent to study modern Aelorian methods. Others are independent, rebellious, curious, or tired of being told which questions are forbidden.
Elves may be treated with fascination by Sparkers, skepticism by Greasers, and wary respect by professors who suspect they know more than they are saying.
Elven characters fit especially well as:
- natural philosophers,
- warding specialists,
- historians,
- moon scholars,
- healers,
- botanists,
- diviners,
- archers or duelists,
- cultural outsiders,
- or students trying to understand the modern world before it repeats old mistakes.
Common Elven Pressures
An elven student may be asked:
- Were you sent to Auralis, or did you choose to come?
- What modern practice alarms you that everyone else considers normal?
- Are you expected to report back to elven elders, or are you avoiding them?
- What question did your people refuse to answer?
