Rangers are experts in the places where maps become lies.
Aeloria needs rangers because civilization is surrounded by old forests, shard-scarred hills, dangerous ruins, strange weather, monster paths, smuggler trails, abandoned roads, haunted battlefields, and living landscapes that do not care what city law says.
A ranger may be a frontier scout, monster warden, ruin guide, courier, survival scholar, bounty hunter, border agent, Wyrdwood interpreter, or field researcher who has learned that books are lighter than tents but less useful in a thunderstorm.
Rangers and Power
Ranger magic is often practical, subtle, and tied to fieldcraft. It may look like impossible tracking, uncanny awareness, quiet speech with animals, weather-sense, herbal skill, or the ability to move through hostile terrain as if the land itself tolerates them.
Some rangers train with druids. Some train with military scouts. Some learn from hunters, smugglers, elves, halfling riverfolk, caravan masters, or bitter experience.
Rangers at the Grand Scholarium
Rangers are invaluable to Scholarium fieldwork because the institution constantly sends people into places where sheltered academics should not go alone.
They fit especially well as:
- expedition scouts,
- field ecology students,
- ruin guides,
- monster studies assistants,
- wilderness scholarship recipients,
- campus animal handlers,
- or practical students surrounded by people who packed ink but forgot water.
