Hosting WordPress from Home
Hosting WordPress from Home
Notes from running pookha.com and community sites from the home lab with WordPress, NAS-backed uploads, and careful maintenance.
Publishing from the lab
Pookha.com and related projects use WordPress as a practical publishing layer for polished public pages, project portals, community history, and experimental dashboards.
Why WordPress
It is easy to publish, easy to revise, familiar to readers, and flexible enough for both normal pages and custom HTML experiences.
Where the lab helps
The home lab provides the server, storage pattern, automation scripts, and direct publishing workflow.
Where caution helps
The more customized a site becomes, the more important backups, simple CSS, cache flushing, and live verification become.
Current public web projects
- Pookha HQ — the personal/project launchpad.
- Teradill — campaign resources and worldbuilding pages.
- Harbingers of Light — community history and guild portal.
- Lumen Tools — sanitized status dashboard.
Lesson learned
Do not let internal storage paths leak into public media URLs. Keep WordPress URLs normal even when storage is NAS-backed.
