Rogues
Rogues are essential in Aeloria because every lock has a story, every archive has a missing page, every patent has a rival, and every respectable institution has at least one door no one is supposed to open.
A rogue may be a thief, investigator, locksmith, spy, duelist, smuggler, journalist, actor, fraud examiner, courier, archaeological assistant, or student who understands that rules and truth are not always stored in the same cabinet.
Rogues and the Modern World
Aeloria gives rogues many toys and many dangers. Locks may be mechanical, magical, social, bureaucratic, or all four. Security may include warded glass, pressure plates, ink traps, oath-sealed ledgers, campus guards, clerkly suspicion, and rival students who know exactly what you are doing because they are doing it too.
Rogues are not necessarily criminals. In a city of patents, sealed archives, political favors, and institutional secrets, a principled rogue may be the person best equipped to understand how a breach occurred.
Rogues at the Grand Scholarium
Rogues fit beautifully into the Grand Scholarium. They can investigate, infiltrate, decode, gossip, shadow suspects, test security, expose fraud, and survive the social maze of Auralis.
They fit especially well as:
- investigative journalists,
- patent office clerks,
- student spies,
- locksmith apprentices,
- forensic accountants,
- smuggler-born scholarship students,
- archive rats,
- rival inventors,
- or someone who insists they are “not a thief, technically.”
